Tommy H Hyndman & Ben Fogle's New Lives in the Wild. UK.

Ben Fogle & Tommy H Hyndman
Fishing off of Sheep Rock, Fair Isle.

Fair Isle, Shetland, Scotland, UK.

Thursday, Dec. 10th - Channel 5

These are my photo taken during the shooting of the show back in mid June, 2015

Ben Fogle arrives at Fair Isle landing strip questioning his choice of shorts as he starts the production of the Fair Isle - Tommy H Hyndman episode of New Lives in the Wild. UK.

Mati Ventrillon, the firewoman, meets Ben Fogle at the Airport after fire duty attending to the landing planes. Ben had received a Fair Isle Jumper made by Mati the knitter for Christmas from his wife a few years ago.

Mati fitting me for my new Fair Isle Jumper. Awesome craftwork and such a talent!
I'm a collector of Fair Isle knitwear made by the other knitters on Fair Isle too.
I have many hats and a few scarf, this is my first jumper and I think it is gorgeous.

Traditional Fair Isle patterned knitwear.

It was a great time out at sea,
views of the Isle are always amazing from a boat.

  35. Loved the programme. You seem to be a really genuine guy living the dream. Your son seems vey level headed and it is a real shame your marriage is over but I would hope you could find someone else and continue your life on the island. I would really like to visit you but in the meantime, all the best.

  36. Hiya
I've just watched the programme with Ben Fogle and have to admit I'm sooooooo jealous of the beautiful place you call home. I've been to the western highlands (Skye) and fell completely in love with the amazing scenery. I've promised myself that one day I'll visit the eastern highlands and Fair Isle is nothing short of stunning! Hope this winter isn't too harsh for you!

    1. thanks! the winters are wild and I sort of like that... plus being so close to the Sea I don't shovel snow! so it's not as bad as you would think. even though we get cut off from the world with no boats or planes at weeks at a time. I love it.

  43. I just watched the show on catchup, it was an inspiring programme. The portrayal of the island and your life on it was captivating. I think you were so brave to step into your adventure rather than like most of us do just dreaming of it. The guest house looked beautiful and food you prepared looked super so I think you are going to get plenty of visitors from the folks that watch the show. Finally I just wanted to say what a delightful boy your son appeared as you must be very proud of him. I hope have a Merry Christmas and happy new year! Kind regards Hannah
