Welcome! I moved to Fair Isle in Nov. 2006. Originally from Saratoga Springs , New York , USA . Wow what a difference! I now live on a remote island in the Auld Haa House, built for the Laird in the early 1700’s. What history! What a view! I still always think of myself as an “Artist” though it is not easy to finding the time to sculpt or paint around here. Creatively I'm also a Hat & Accessories Designer, plus I make Fair Isle themed souvenirs, t-shirts & postcards. I have an Artist Studio and Gallery/Shop at the South Lighthouse. I also have reinstated the Fair Isle Lighthouse Keepers Golf Course on the croft land around the South Lighthouse. Though I think of myself as a artist or creative person, I make most my income from cooking and accommodating visitors to Fair Isle. I run and cook for my Auld Haa Guesthouse, with all the guests coming and going, this keeps me pretty busy. A few hours every month I train as a member of H.M. Coastguard Search & Rescue Team. I have been a life long sport fisherman, since moving to Fair Isle I have also become an enthusiastic amateur birdwatcher. I mainly blog to share my adventures with friends & family. Media interest surrounded our move and life style choices, people all over the world like to see if I am still alive and continue to live here. Birdwatchers wonder what bird is going to be found next? I also promote Fair Isle by attracting more visitors and a worldwide awareness of Fair Isle , it’s knitting & heritage. The beauty of Fair Isle has turned much of my creativity to photograph. I just love showing this truly amazing place to everyone, most especially my son Henry.
If you would like some more obscure info on me, you could look at this silly interview I gave the Shetland Times Newspaper for the "In Focus" page?
