The Lighthouse south west corner wall is gone! from the gate to the fog horn...
Wild Weather & Waves!

Watch the video words just can't explain...

Watch till the end, the lighthouse becomes an island.

Dangerous weather, it was hard to walk much less take photos...

Fulmar - I think I'll stay in land today...

Video taken from the shelter of my bedroom window. The South Harbour is sheltered from west winds, but still the Keels & Skerries take a beating. The rocks known as the Keels are known to be 60 ft. high. So how high are the waves then?

Damage & aftermath photos taken the day after...

  1. Excellent bit of filming Tommy. Particularly liked the shots of your thumb (only joking!) Glad I don't live in the Lighthouse...

  4. Pete/Grandpa are fine. Dave was there. He went up to the lighthouse and probably couldn't get back down until the tide dropped a bit. Bill went up to check out the lighthouse and was met by the sea pouring into the engine room. A window had been crashed in So he quickly shut the door of the engine room and made for the exit. He said that the sea followed him to the door as he hurried out. pretty scary I waited in the car and got a bit worried when the sea started to come up on the road. thankfully Bill arrived back before the surge spilled down to the football pitch. It is hoped that it will be possible to do a temporary fix of the window tomorrow. Margo

  5. Thanks, Margo. It looks and sounds really scary. I hope Bill, Dave and Pete are keeping safe. Seeing the lighthouse surrounded by water was shocking. Has the remembrance plaque been saved, I think it was on that bit of wall that has been lost? Gilly

  13. The subsequent time I learn a blog, I hope that it doesn't disappoint me as much as this one. I mean, I do know it was my choice to read, however I actually thought you'd have something interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you possibly can repair if you happen to weren't too busy looking for attention.
