There are just THREE WEEKS to go until the draw of the Fair Isle Museum Raffle. We desperately need to raise funds to build a small extension to our wee island museum to provide toilet facilities and a small office. We still have plenty of tickets to sell. The raffle has some amazing prizes:

FIRST PRIZE: 5-night stay on Fair Isle for two people (three nights accommodation at the Bird Obs and 2 nights at South Lighthouse), with return flights, Shetland to Fair Isle included.

SECOND PRIZE: A bespoke, made-to-measure Fair Isle jumper

Tickets cost £1 each (£5 for a book of 5 tickets). If you would like to buy tickets please send a cheque made out to ‘George Waterston Memorial Centre’ to Hollie Shaw, Burkle, Fair Isle. ZE29JU and enclose a SAE for your tickets to be sent to you. 

The draw takes place on the 25th of October.

 payments for tickets should be received by October 20th.

Thousands of pounds are need to add this small but much needed extension. Designed to mimic in shape the kjyls (kilns for drying grain) built onto some of the barns on the Isle, the new extension will house a much needed office and toilet.  The new wind and weather buffering entrance will help to ensure the collection  is doubly protected from the elements every time the door opens. The Museum & the Islanders are very appreciative of any donations of any size beyond this fundraising event.
